ABOUT

“Furusawa-Tei”, a house of a wealthy farmer, has been watching over the Anyoji village for more than 150 years, and has been reborn as “Yukinoya”, a vacation rental.
The “space,” “meals,” and “interaction with local people” of this inn allow you to experience with all five senses the life of the snow country people, who have lived with the snow and made it a part of their daily life.

We aim to preserve the original house as much as possible so that our guests can feel the breath of the former inhabitants’ life.
You will spend quality and special time in the peaceful atmosphere.

FOOD

Enjoy dishes that can only be tasted here and now, using seasonal, locally grown ingredients. For example, this region, with its abundant source of melted snow water, grows the best rice in Japan, as well as seasonally flavorful vegetables and mushrooms. Fermented and stored foods add depth to the flavor of snow country cuisine.

This is an experience of cooking seasonal local dishes with local residents. Enjoy cooking and tasting dishes using seasonal ingredients and traditional stored foods while interacting with local residents. (In preparation)

Wild Vegetable Picking Adventure

Pick, cook, and taste wild edible plants with a local expert. Learn how to prepare them together. This is a special experience only available in spring after a long snowy winter. (In preparation)

Farming Experience

Experience farming in Tokamachi, where the best rice in Japan is grown. (In preparation)
