ROOM
A Haven Where Past and Present Gently Intertwine
In the bedroom, the beams and ceiling boards—quiet witnesses to the passage of time—remain just as they were, preserving the charm of a bygone era. Here, bedding (mattresses and futons) is prepared to comfortably accommodate up to ten guests, offering a space of serene relaxation.
In the dining room, echoes of the traditional earthen floor linger. Gather around the hearth to enjoy meals, where the gentle fragrance and warmth of burning firewood soothe both body and spirit. The living room blends old wooden fittings and shoji screens with modern touches, creating a space that is both timeless and welcoming. Within each room, the quiet memories of a snow country flow, inviting you to linger in moments of gentle tranquility.
Simple, Spotless, and Gracefully Refined
Within a home that cherishes the memories of everyday life, the water facilities have been carefully updated with modern comforts. The bathroom, finished with soothing tiles, offers a calm retreat where you can surrender yourself and let travel weariness melt away. Toilets and washrooms are kept impeccably clean and easy to use, with ample facilities to ensure comfort even for larger groups. Here, the elegance of tradition harmonizes with the reassurance of modern convenience.
In the spacious kitchen, once the heart of family gatherings and seasonal food preparations, the memory of preserved traditions still lingers. Today, it is equipped with modern appliances and utensils, making it a welcoming space for those who wish to enjoy cooking during their stay. Because these spaces are essential to daily life, every detail has been designed to bring not only practicality but also moments of quiet ease.
Gentle Lights and Traces of Tradition
Our guiding principle has been to avoid excessive alteration.
Rather than focusing on convenience or modern novelty, we chose to preserve the 150 years of history and the memories of daily life within these walls. The doma (earthen floor), once a lively space where many people passed through, still carries subtle traces of earth and fire. The gangi—a covered walkway unique to snowy regions—quietly remains as a symbol of the wisdom born from life in a harsh climate.
Polished wooden floors, shoji screens that filter soft daylight, and the well-worn textures of timber all connect past and present, offering guests a glimpse into the traditions of snow country living. By keeping the space unembellished and authentic, we have sought to highlight the natural beauty that time itself has created.
